Training - My theory and training practices right now

Wow. its been a while since I've posted on here!!
Training is going good. I have been doing a lot more bodyweight/calesthenics exercises lately.
for example: I will jump rope for 2 minutes. then do 20 push ups. then 50 crunches. then 50 jumping jacks. followed by 5 clapping push-ups. With no breaks in between exercises. Then I'll rest and do it all over again.  I usually do 4 or 5 of these circuits followed by at least 12 miles of bike riding, or a jog and bike ride, etc.  I've been trying to weave working out into my life so that I do 2-3 smaller 20-30 minute workouts spaced throughout the day.  I usually do this 3-4 days or so a week and lift weights maybe 1-2 times a week.
This isn't because I don't have time to devote to a full workout but rather cause I think that it'll allow me to use working out as a tool (such as my transportation somewhere), which will make me work out more often.  Also I feel that it helps keep my metabolism up throughout the day.

Been busy

Hey! Sorry I haven't updated this in a while. It was really getting old posting the same exact thing pretty much day in and day out.  Plus with the holiday season being my works busy season and finals at school and everything I've had almost no extra time to post.
Anyways its been about a month now that I've been training. the diet is going great, mostly fruits and veggies and all lean meats.
Workout wise I've been mixing it up.  I've been exercising 4-5 days a week. Not as much as I like but believe me when I tell you school and work are killing me time wise so 4-5 days is all I can squeeze in. back to 5-6 after the holiday season. I usually start off with 5-10 minutes of hard cardio to get my blood flowing. either bleachers or all the way on the highest gear on the bicycle.   Then I usually do 20-30 minutes of cardio (either jogging, or biking).  I follow all that up with about 15-20 minutes of calesthenics.  Depending on my mood, and weather, and time, etc I figure out what workout I'm going to do that day.  I try not to get in the same rhythm too much cause I get bored too easily.
as far as weight goes I won't be doing a weigh in, at all, ever. sorry.  but frankly this was about me getting in great athletic shape and I could care less what my actual weight is so long as I'm healthy.
anyways I didn't lose site of my goal, just been ridiculously busy and there was no need to do repetitive posts on here. I'll try to get some pics up soon.
as far as results I'm already noticing good increases in distance covered, and speed, and endurance so training is going great!!!

Weekend review and monday

Whoooo! what an exhausting weekend. we're shorthanded at work which made me have to put in a lot of extra time. I just finished 13 days straight buts its ok, I'm off tomorrow!!!
Fri we did rollouts of new specials at work. so I had to have a couple samples but only a few small pieces, that was slow roasted pork tenderloin, and a peppercorn ny strip. we also have peanut butter pie but i didn't try that. I'd rather not know exactly what I'm missing.
Rest of the weekend consisted of the usual tilapia or chicken for dinner, eggs and cereal or oatmeal for breakfast with a light snack of an apple or banana sometime before dinner.
workouts remained the traditional track but i moved up to 8 laps, i'm sprinting the curves and jogging the straights. I didn't do wind sprints or bleachers but I did ride my bike to work 3 out of the last 4 days.
still haven't got a weigh in, why? because frankly i don't care what my weight is. my diet and my exercise i'll fall to whatever my ideal weight is anyways.
tomorrow, day off from work, may try to do my jogging on the beach. we'll play it by ear.

Weekend Review - Pending

worked 28 hours this weekend. post to come.

Days 2 and 3

Hey. Sorry I missed yesterdays post. extremely busy.
Woke up wed and jogged 1.5 miles then ran bleachers for 15 min again. I am going to start doing longer jogs and more on the beach with the resistance of the sand. food was tilapia with a salad (romaine, a pinch of cheese and oil and vin dressing) I followed that up with a chicken breast for dinner and a banana when I got home from work.
Today I didn't really get a serious workout in but I did ride the bike to school and work and back home again (total 12 miles all day). Ate a chicken breast for dinner with broccoli and green beans. Also had a bowl of honey bunches of oats with skim milk for breakfast. just got home from work and kinda hungry so I'll probably eat another banana.
Still haven't got the weigh in done. sorry, sue me.

Review of Day 1 - November 18, 2008

Alright day one went great. I ate a grilled tilapia filet and a small salad for late lunch/early dinner. Had a small bag of banana chips for a early snack. southwest omellete for breakfast. Woke up at 9:30 and hit the track for 5 laps then ran bleachers for like 15-20 minutes. it was a short workout but i had stuff to do. I filled in a dishwashing shift yesterday at work and that is a workout itself cause believe it or not there is a lot of heavy lifting and moving stuff around like stacks of plates.
didn't get a weigh in. i'll try to get one today.

Triathlon Training Officially Starts Tomorrow

Alright, so here I am. On the eve of starting my training for a triathlon. So unless you know me maybe I should give you some background story.
I'm 24. A little over a year ago I weight in at around 230 pounds. I'm 5'10" and that 230 was nothing but fat. I led a very unhealthy lifestyle which revolved around drinking and partying. I now weigh in around 170. I was unhappy with where I was in life and decided to do something about it. I stopped eating fast food and started eating completely healthy. I started riding a bicycle more often for short trips, sometimes even the 6 miles to work. And every now and again I got a true workout in. I dropped 60 pounds seemingly overnight, and already feel so much more confident and better about myself. Well thats where I stand now and here's what I'm up against.
A few nights ago I was reading Men's Fitness (which I've been subscribed to pretty much since I started getting in better shape) and the success story was about Arkady Hagopian. To summarize he had 40% body fat and 240 pounds. He dropped 80 pounds and competed in 3 triathlons, including an ironman in a little over 2 years. HARDCORE!!!

So anyways after reading the article I decided I'm going to get in the best shape of my life and compete in a triathlon by the end of 2009. When I started getting in shape I didn't really have a goal, just to get in better shape. Now I have a goal and like every other goal I set for myself I have set if very high. So here I am, on the eve of my first day of training and my life is ready to change. I already eat healthy so now its just a matter of eating healthier. Pretty much strictly lean beef, chicken and veggies now. very light seasoning, no butter, etc.
So anyways here goes nothing. Tomorrow, day 1. waking up. eating a southwest ommelette for breakfast. then going to jog the track and run some bleachers. I'll also get an official weigh in (I haven't been on a scale in 3 months so 170 is just a guess). Anyways look for an update tomorrow with the official weigh in and stuff. this blog is also going to be my fitness journal too so most updates will just be what I ate that day, and what workouts I did, etc. But I'll also be throwing some updates with my thoughts and stuff like that too so keep checking back often so you can follow my progress.
Thanks for reading this and I look forward to all the support and kind words, so please don't hesitate to email. And now I'm going to enjoy a krispy kreme for the last time for a very long time. :)
